Are you taking advantage of online freebies? If not, you're probably overpaying.

There's a lot of free stuff online you can find with minimal effort. With a bit more diligence, you can get hundreds of dollars worth of stuff free!

There are tons of websites that specialize in giveaways and free products. We'll talk about a few of them here, and we'll give you 10 ways to get free stuff online.

1. Take Advantage of Giveaway Sites

As we said, there are a ton of sites specialized to giveaways. Keep an eye out for scams though. If you're ever asked to enter a credit card - stay away!

Here are some of our favorites:

WomenFreebies specializes in stuff for women. Enjoy free makeup samples, books, and more!

PinchMe occasionally sends out boxes of full-sized products. They look for reviews in return, but it's still full-sized products with no money down.

FreakyFreddies lets you divide up your freebies by categories. We think that's pretty cool.

2. Always Check Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to find free stuff! Sometimes you need to get rid of something, and Craigslist is the place it goes.

To stay safe, always meet in a public place, and never give out personal information online. You're picking up something free, so never give out credit card information.

And remember with anything on Craigslist, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

To take advantage, just keep an eye on the free section on your local Craigslist. You can also look for free stuff on the app LetGo.

3. Check Out Sample Boxes from Major Retailers

Did you know that Target and Walmart both offer sample boxes? They're not exactly free, per se, but they're a great deal. Each box comes with about $30 worth of products, and you get an entire box worth.

For Target, prices range from $7 to $15. For Walmart, you receive a box every three months for a flat $5 shipping fee. Products range from beauty to baby, toys and more.

4. Always Take Advantage of Reward Programs

Companies offer rewards programs to keep regular customers. So if you plan on going back to the same place more than once, sign up for the rewards program. They're pretty much always free, but they can save you big bucks.

Sign up for places like hotels, which can get you a free room, or gas stations, which give you discounts on gas. These are both great options for anyone who likes to travel a lot.

5. Pay Attention To Community Marketplaces

Facebook has a community marketplace that specializes in your neighborhood. It works a lot like Craigslist, but sometimes it can see more action. People typically use Facebook a lot more than Craigslist.

You can also look into other community marketplaces like Nextdoor. Or check out apps like LegGo and Decluttr. Sometimes people post free items in these marketplaces as well.

6. Take Advantage of Rebates

While this may take money upfront, you can get it back, giving you free items! Rebates can get you anywhere from 10% to 100% back on some items.

You can even get rebates from your favorite retailers like Jet and Amazon. This can help you save money on groceries. You can learn more about how rebates work here.

7. Sign Up For Sample Products

Companies love handing out free samples just as much as you enjoy getting them! Whenever possible, sign up for free samples from companies. Walgreens, Ultra Beauty, and more like to hand out samples.

Check out FreeSamples.org for more ideas. They have a great list of companies where you can sign up for free samples.

8. Use Your Free Trials

What's better than Netflix? Free Netflix. Whenever you can, take advantage of the free trial. But always remember to set a reminder in your phone two days before the trial ends so you have time to cancel.

This way, you get to enjoy a product for the free trial period, and never pay a dime!

9. Don't Neglect Your Library Card

A library card is the most neglected free online resource available. You can borrow e-books and audiobooks, movies and tv shows. You can play games and learn from online resources. Some library cards also have free museum passes or access to programs like Rosetta Stone.

If you don't already have a library card, get one today. Start taking advantage of this little treasure trove.

10. We Love Food Holidays

What do National Ice Cream Day, National Pizza Day, and National Beer Day have in common? Free samples and great discounts! We love our national food days, so take advantage of them!

Most foods have a national holiday. Restaurants around the country give freebies and discounts for the celebrated food. Keep an eye out for the food holidays coming up and take advantage of the great discounts.

Many places offer the discount in-store - no coupons or promos required. But it doesn't hurt to keep an eye out for special discounts online.

There Are Plenty of Ways to Find Free Stuff Online

This is just a starting point, but maybe you'll get the bug for finding free stuff online. Why do marketers give away stuff? Easy. Marketing. If you find a product you like, marketers hope you'll buy it again. Maybe you'll find something you love!

But even if you don't, you can at least enjoy knowing you got your swag online for free.

When you think of online shopping, what's the first word that comes to mind. For most of us, the answer is Amazon. 82% of shoppers have made at least one Amazon purchase.

With the discount opportunities available on this site, it's no wonder so many people choose to do their online shopping on the best-known online marketplace. But, are there opportunities to increase your Amazon savings?

Can you use coupons on Amazon for instance? The simple answer is, yes. There are several ways you can increase your Amazon savings with coupons and rebates.

Can You Use Coupons on Amazon?

Research shows that 28% of consumers prefer to start their shopping on Amazon. That's because you can often find the best prices on this marketplace site.

What many people don't know is you can also use coupons directly on the site. This allows even more savings. Combine this with their subscription services and you increase the savings even more.

Amazon coupon and savings opportunities include Prime membership, Subscribe & Save, coupons, and daily deals. The good news is you can also use outside websites to find other coupons and rebates.

A Guide to Using Coupons on Amazon

The easiest way to use coupons on Amazon is to search directly on the site. This makes couponing easier for Amazon members than most coupon opportunities. There are still outside opportunities for Amazon savings though.

Amazon Coupons

Amazon has a whole section dedicated to coupons for all kinds of items. This includes

  • Household and grocery items
  • Clothes
  • Electronics
  • Games and toys

Almost any type of item sold on Amazon can qualify for a coupon. To find the available coupons, click on Today's Deals. Once there you'll find a link to coupons.

The coupons section brings up a list of recommended coupons, but you have an opportunity to browse all available coupons. You can also search for coupons in specific categories so you can find exactly what you're looking for.

How to Redeem Amazon Coupons

To use a coupon, just click the clip coupon box, then add the item to your cart. You can also click on the item which clips the coupon automatically. The coupon's added to your purchase once you add the item to your cart.

You can also sign up for the weekly coupon newsletter. This allows you to see what coupons are available before you start shopping. You'll also see when coupons expire so you can plan your purchases.

Subscribe & Save

Subscribe & Save is another discount opportunity available directly from the Amazon site. This works for qualified items you need to purchase regularly.

You can set up the items to ship automatically every month and save 5% on your order. If you add more items to your subscription, you can increase the savings up to 15%.

Today's Deals

You can also check out Amazon's daily deals to find discounts on items. Each day, Amazon provides discounts on different types of products.

You can find deals on any category of product on a given day. You can browse through the categories or browse all daily deals available.

Off-Site Rebates

Your savings opportunities aren't dependent on Amazon deals alone. You can also sign up for an online rebate program to find outside discount opportunities.

Some of the Amazon sellers will offer rebates on these rebate sites you can redeem with proof of purchase. Sign up for an account and search the available discounts.

Once you buy the products with rebates available, you can use your rebate key to get the money back from the seller. The rebate key is usually your order number. Rebates can take the form of a check, cash, or store credit for future purchases.

Stack Your Savings

The best way to save money on Amazon purchases is to stack your savings. Amazon allows you to use as many coupons as you want when purchasing, so clip all the coupons you want to use.

Check if there are coupons on Subscribe & Save items and add these coupons to your monthly orders. You can also check for coupons on daily deals to stack your savings on these items.

You can also check for rebates directly from the seller to add further savings to Amazon coupons. Rebates only require a proof of purchase.

More Savings Tips

If you use Amazon coupons, pay attention to expiration dates. Plan to purchase early within the coupon dates so you don't miss out on the savings. Amazon can sometimes discontinue coupons if they run out of items.

You also need to shop wisely when using coupons. If you're new to couponing, it's tempting to take advantage of every deal, but this is a mistake.

Only Use Coupons You Need

The number one mistake with coupons is purchasing something because a coupon's available. This doesn't save you money though.

Only purchase coupon items you would purchase anyway. If you don't need something, it doesn't matter how much you save with a coupon.

Be Willing to Purchase Off-Brand

A coupon for an item you plan to purchase won't always apply to your favorite brand. If you're willing to shop off-brand, you can get those items you want to purchase using the savings opportunities available.

If you're going to use a coupon for another brand, make sure it's an item you can shop off-brand for. Some items are best from a specific brand, so do your research before you use a coupon.

Check All the Deals

Sometimes you can find multiple coupons for the same types of items. This means you shouldn't grab the first coupon you see. Do your research.

Check out all the deals available on items to find the best option. Look at the prices with the coupons to determine which is the best deal.

Money-Saving Opportunities for All Online Shopping

Can you use coupons on Amazon? Yes, but Amazon isn't the only place to shop. If you shop wisely, you can find online deals for all the major marketplaces and retail shops.

If you want to get started with your online savings, sign up for a rebate account. You can start saving money today.

By March 2019, Amazon Prime had 103 million U.S. subscribers, an increase of over 20 million since the previous March. This rise in popularity is because of the convenience and benefits of participating.

In fact, Prime has so many side benefits that you might not know about them all. Here are 10 Amazon perks you don’t want to miss out on.

1: Fast and Free Shipping

Free two-day shipping is one of the better-known Amazon.com perks, but with Prime, you get that and more.

With Prime Now, orders over $35 can be delivered the same day, or at latest the next day if you order after noon. You might even get it within the hour, depending on your location and the item.

This service is available in select cities, so be sure to check if your area is covered. Even if you don’t have it in your home city, this is a great option to have while traveling, for any of those items that you forgot to pack.

If you don’t need your item in a hurry, you get another shipping bonus. When you choose the no-rush option for your order, you get a credit that can be applied to later purchases such as movie rentals and e-books.

2: Unlimited Photo Storage

Photos capture many precious memories, but if you don’t back them up, you’re at risk of losing them.

With the free Amazon Photo app, you don’t need to worry about that. Once you have it, you have unlimited storage space in the Prime Vault, where you can access your photos at any time. This storage happens automatically, including when you’re on vacation, making it one of the best Amazon travel deals.

3: Prime Reading

Amazon hasn’t forgotten its roots as a bookstore with its Prime benefits. Whatever and however you like to read, Prime has you covered.

With Prime Reading, you have access to a library of free magazines and books. You can check out up to 10 at a time, including books like the Harry Potter series and magazines such as Time and National Geographic.

One of the best parts of this perk is that you don’t need a Kindle to take advantage of it. You can read on any device.

If you do have a Kindle, though, you get the added bonus of the Lending Library. This gives you access to even more titles, and you can download one at a time with no due date.

People who prefer listening to books are included, too, with free Audible Channels. This gives you access to a rotating series of Audible books, available only to Prime members.

4: Prime Video

Another perk is Prime Video, which gives you streaming access to a large library of TV series and movies, from bigger budget films to lesser-known releases. Amazon is also producing some of its own award-winning content, such as The Man In the High Castle.

If you’re looking to cut your connection to cable, you can add on channels like STARZ, HBO, and Showtime, so you can still have access to your favorite shows.

5: Offline Downloads

If you’re going on a trip, another Amazon travel benefit is being able to download content to watch when you’re offline. This works for both music and video.

Not everything is available for download, but you’ll have a good selection. If you know you’ll be traveling, download ahead of time so you can watch or listen even when you don’t have an internet connection.

6: Amazon Credit Card

If you want to get even more from your Amazon account, consider getting an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa.

It doesn’t have an annual fee, which means you can simply use it and enjoy the benefits. This includes getting 5% back on any Amazon or Whole Foods purchase, 2% back at restaurants, gas stations, and drugstores, and 1% back with all other purchases.

You also get some good travel benefits, such as no foreign transaction fees and travel accident insurance. Plus, with Amazon, rental car fees can be covered by redeeming your rewards, and you can get Amazon hotel deals in the same way.

If you’re not traveling, you can also redeem your rewards for cash back or gift cards.

7: Prime Wardrobe

If you haven’t gone clothes shopping on Amazon, give it a try with Prime Wardrobe.

As a Prime member, you can choose up to eight items from eligible clothes, shoes, and accessories and have them shipped to you for a seven-day trial.

If something doesn’t fit, or you decide you don’t want it, you can return it at no cost for a full refund. You only pay for what you end up keeping.

8: Household Sharing

If you live with someone who loves Amazon as much as you do, you don’t need to both pay for Prime. You can share your membership with another adult, as long as you have the same address.

You can also share this with up to four teens (ages 13-17), so they can create their own profiles for streaming or shopping.

9: Lightning Deals

Amazon offers what are called Lightning Deals, where you have access to a discounted item for a certain amount of time. These items also typically have a limited supply.

This isn’t restricted to Prime members, but membership gets you early access. Having a 30-minute head start could mean the difference between getting the item or not.

10: Specials on Food

Amazon also has benefits for grocery shopping.

One of the biggest is getting discounts at Whole Foods. In addition to the 5% back from using an Amazon Visa card, you can look for items marked as “Prime.” These lower prices are only available to Prime members, and they can add up fast.

You also have access to the Prime Pantry, which is full of household and grocery items that you might not normally purchase because they’re too heavy to ship.

If your order is over $35, you get free shipping. You can also pay an extra $4.99 a month to get free shipping on orders over $10, or you can pay $5.99 for orders that don’t fall into those categories.

Don’t Miss Out on Amazon Perks

Prime membership comes with many benefits, and you don’t want to miss out on any of these Amazon perks. Once you start using them, you and your family will be even happier you opted for membership.

Even though they’re a pretty popular way to save money on everyday purchases, 50 to 70% of shoppers fail to actually send their rebate in to get their money back!

It’s understandable. As soon as you get home, you lose track of what you’re doing, and before you know it, the window passes and you forget about your precious rebate check.

That’s why it’s great to find other extreme rebate strategies that can help you earn cash back.

Here are our top ten strategies that you need to start implementing today.

1. Grab Rebates on In-Store Products

What is a mail-in rebate? They’re the papers you see hanging on the necks of bottles and products in the store. Sometimes you can find them online too.

While you’re doing your everyday shopping at Walmart or Target, make it a point to keep an eye out for the rebates you see on products.

Because most people are so focused on the digital side of couponing and cash back deals, they often forget to look at the most obvious place ever: the grocery store!

Use them immediately as you go to the checkout line or take them home if you need to mail them in. If you’re going to use them at the store, be sure to read the fine print to maximize your savings.

2. Perform a Mail-In Rebates Google Search

Even though people are so digitally-focused these days, they often forget that they can search for the most updated lists of mail-in rebates by performing a simple Google search.

Here, you’ll likely find websites that are trying to promote their own discounts or products by writing blogs that include free rebates.

Frequently, if your search for free rebates online for your favorite store, you’re likely to find them or something similar such as coupons or simple sales that you didn’t know about.

3. Snag Price Adjustment Rebates for Credit Card Purchases

Did you know that you can receive a rebate on individual purchases if you use a credit card that’s got price adjustment as part of one of the perks?

This usually means that if you purchase something with your credit card and later see it for a lower price (within a specific timeframe), then you can request a rebate on the difference in price.

Usually, you’ll have between 14 and 30 days to submit the claim, and some companies require that you mail in a claim or contact them by telephone.

4. Combine Mail-In Rebate With Gift Cards

You’ll have to check that your local store allows you to do this one, but if you can pull it off, it’s one of the most extreme rebate tricks ever!

If a rebate at a store requires that you spend a certain amount to receive the rebate (such as purchase $100 to receive a $20 rebate on a specific item), then add a gift card onto your purchase.

Make sure that it’s a gift card that you’re going to use. It can be a gift card to buy groceries on Amazon, for example, if you know you’re definitely going to spend the money in the near future.

This is a great way to put money directly back into your pocket while enjoying the perks of the rebate.

5. Stack Rebates With Discounts

Certain retailers allow coupon stacking. But, if you’re checking out in person or online, you can learn how to purchase rebate-eligible items while using coupons as you buy them.

To get the most out of your mail-in rebate offers, wait until the store is having a discount and purchase the product at a discounted rate.

You’ll need to check with the store or brand to make sure you can do this. If you can, it’s a great way to save a few extra bucks. That adds up over time!

6. Get an Extreme Rebate on Amazon Orders

Rebates work the same online as they do in-person.

This means that you should make a habit out of heading over to Amazon’s Rebate page after ordering anything.

You’ll need to have your order number ready, and once you enter it, you'll be able to see if it’s eligible for a mail-in rebate.

If it is, then go ahead and complete all of the required information straight away. This will help ensure that you don’t forget to fill out the information or send it out.

7. Get Free Office Supplies From Staples

Staples often promotes a rebate that some refer to as “penny paper.” It allows you to get a pack of copy paper for just a penny.

That’s over $8 in savings! Wait to purchase your printer and copy paper until you see this rebate and then stock up for the next few months.

Staples has this rebate offer a few times a year, so the chances are that if you stock up enough to tide you over until the next offer, you’ll never have to pay more than a penny for paper.

8. Separate Your Transactions

If you send in a receipt with a lot of transactions on it for one rebate, you can risk having them decline it.

To speed up the process and make sure that you get some cash back, always separate your transactions, especially if you’re going to use more than one rebate.

This will ensure that you have a clean receipt to mail in with the offer.

9. Optimize Your Browser With Rebate Extensions

Whenever you’re browsing online, you can optimize your shopping by installing extensions on your internet browser.

If you’re using Google Chrome, you just have to go to the extensions part of your settings and search for rebates and cash back extensions.

Some of the extensions will check the price of an item to ensure it’s the lowest on the net while others will alert you to when there’s a rebate available.
